Description

The Vietnam War left a permanent imprint on United States history, as the overall consensus among most is that it was the most controversial war in history. Additionally, the outcome of this war was a shock to many, as most believed that the United States had the capability to defeat a less technologically advanced Northern Vietnam army. With this controversy comes varies different accounts and perspectives of the war itself. In the midst of these conflicting accounts and opinions, it is vital to hear the perspective of someone who served in the war in order to fully understand the war on a large scale. Through interviewing Vietnam War Veteran, Isiah Leggett, this project serves to provide a first-hand perspective of the war equipped with emotional accounts of what the war was like firsthand. By familiarizing the world with the Vietnam War, one can realize the impact that this war had on American history and those that served in the war. In contrast to many accounts of the Vietnam War, this oral history gives one a full understanding of the war from the perspective of someone who fought in the war.
