Description
The purpose of this oral history is to acquire a deeper understanding of the infamous battles of Iwo Jima and Saipan as well as the entirety of the Pacific Campaign through an interview with William Mancke. This project aims to extract the emotions, opinions, and personal experiences of a young marine during these events, which cannot be replicated by any typical textbook. Furthermore, this narrative of Iwo Jima and Saipan strives to be unique through the stories of a former 17-year-old marine thrust into four Pacific Island battles.
