The purpose of this oral history project is to learn about and experience Pearl Harbor through the eyes of Pearl Harbor survivor, Michael (Mickey) Ganitch. The images that Mr. Ganitch witnessed and the emotions that Mr. Ganitch felt on December ?1h, 1941 are perspectives that cannot be taught through written accounts of the day. Mr. Ganitch provides an in-depth account of the attack on Pearl Harbor that brings to life the morning of December 7th, from the surprise, to the response, to the aftermath. Mr. Ganitch's story is historically relevant because it offers insight into an event that forever changed him, his shipmates, and the United States.
